Caroline Stone

I have been involved with Westminster Christian School, in one role or another, since 1980 when my son, Matt came to Westminster in the fourth grade. We were new to Miami having moved from Chicago due to business transfer. I joined the Parents Guild (then known as the Ladies Guild) and served in many positions, eventually becoming the President of that group. My education is in the areas of psychology, special education and educational administration earning a B.A. from Mary Washington College in Virginia and a Masters Degree from Millersville State University in Pennsylvania. Before coming to Miami, I taught mentally handicapped children and later, emotionally disturbed, learning disabled children in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Illinois. My first, non-volunteer job at Westminster was as a substitute teacher. Eventually, when my youngest child, Sarah, entered preschool, I became a therapist in the Discovery program (now known as GRASP) and taught science part time in the Middle School. In 1993, I left my job at Westminster to become Director of Children’s Ministries at Immanuel Presbyterian Church but I remained very involved at Westminster because I still had two children attending WCS. Later that year, I was elected to the Westminster Board of Directors and served as Secretary, Vice President and, eventually, President of the Board in the 1990’s. In 2000, I left church work and returned to Westminster as a part-time therapist in the Learning Disability program. In 2001, I was hired as the Director of Fine Arts and continued in that role until 2004 when I took over as the Director of Admission. My three children are graduates of Westminster (Matt ’89, Dan ’95 and Sarah ’97) and my granddaughter, Caroline, attended Westminster from kindergarten through 7th grade when her family moved out of town due to a job transfer. I am also a “fitness nut” and have owned and operated L.I.F.T., Inc., a fitness instruction company, for 28 years. I currently teach five fitness classes a week. All three of my children are married and I now have a total of eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Westminster has been an integral part of my life and my children’s lives and I thank the Lord daily for allowing me to serve Him in a Christian School where I work alongside believers every day to direct and shape the lives of His children.
