Learning is Fun Night 2007
Westminster's fourth grade class created life-size sculptures of students' bodies from clear packing tape to represent the different body systems. ES Art Teacher Anne Heetderks, with the help of the students, wrapped individual student body parts -- legs, torso, arms, etc. -- and then assembled them to create the life-size figures. This sculpture of two students playing basketball represents the muscular system and is one of a set of five that were displayed at the Elementary School's annual Learning is Fun Night (LIFN). Not your typical classroom open house event, LIFN transformed Westminster's elementary campus into a subtropical rainforest, a pagoda in China, the mountains of Africa, and the beautiful flowers of the world to bring to life what the students have been learning throughout the school year.
