The Fine Arts Department at Westminster Christian School is among the finest in the state of Florida. Westminster is a member of the Florida School Music Association and holds component memberships in the Florida Vocal, Florida Bandmasters, and Florida Orchestra Associations; The Drama Department also holds membership in the International Thespian Society. In the district and state festivals associated with these component organizations our performing groups regularly receive superior ratings. These superior performing groups have recently traveled to locations such as Carnegie Hall, Czech Republic, Paris, and Hawaii. Our general student body is provided with outstanding performances on our campus leading them to a well-rounded education.

Top Band Students Perform at UM Honor Band by Erika Fernandez, Band Director
While most WCS students slept in during the Teacher Workday on Feb. 12, Senior AJ Tablada, Junior Carter Moylan, and Sophomore Victor Mora got up early and headed to the University of Miami for its 28th Annual Honor Band. It is an honor for the students selected from schools across South Florida to participate and play under the direction of the University's finest conductors. |

Student Artwork Selected for Awards at Miami-Dade County Youth Fair
Artwork from seven Westminster students was juried into the Miami-Dade Youth Fair Fine Arts Show, and two of the students won awards. |

Westminster High School Art Students Earn Awards
Congratulations to Stephanie Golik, who was the overall winner of the Dade Heritage Trust Student Art Contest; and, to Kevin Lyn, who won second place, and to William Currie, who won third place in the HS division. In addition, Amanda Miehe and Stephanie Golik each won Honorable Mention awards for their watercolor botanicals in the HS division of the Fairchild Botanic Tropical Garden's Challenge. |
WCS Orchestras and Choirs Earn Superiors!
Congratulations are in order to Westminster's Orchestras and Choirs! All four orchestras, two HS and two MS, received Superior ratings at the Florida Orchestra Association Musical Performance Assessments. Both HS orchestras will now go to State. All four choirs evaluated at the Florida Vocal Association Music Performance Assessments were rated Superior and will now move on to State (HS) and/or Orlando (MS) competitions later this spring.

ES Students Study Abstract Art at Fairchild Tropical Gardens
The first through fifth grade students were able to enjoy the abstract sculpture of Yayoi Kusama and Mark Di Suvero during a recent field trip to Fairchild Tropical Gardens. After studying the two-dimensional abstract art of Mondrian, Pollack, and Kandinsky in our regular classroom sessions, it was fun to be about to climb and walk around real sculptures! |

MS Theater Students Receive Top Ratings at State
The WCS Junior Thespian Troupe competed for the first time in the International Thespian Society's Junior Thespian Florida State Festival on Feb. 12 and 13. Representing Westminster at the event were eighth grade students: Michael Martinez, Anabella Mazariegos, C.J. Heck, and Anthony Rivera. |
