High School Honors Girls’ Ensemble is a select ensemble of 12 female singers in grades 10-12 who represent our school at numerous on and off campus concerts, church, and community functions. These auditioned singers represent the highest level of vocal accomplishment in the Westminster choral program. Consistently rated Superior on all levels of adjudication, the group has performed recently for the Florida chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. They are multi-year Grand Champion winners in the annual Caroling Contest sponsored by the Junior Orange Bowl in Miami. They sing together with the Mixed Ensemble forming a Concert Chorus rated superior at the state level, traveling with the Mixed Ensemble on yearly choral tours and adjudications.
High School Women’s Chorale
High School Women’s Chorale is a non-auditioned group of female singers in grades 9-12 who work together to learn the basics of choral production, sight-reading, and music theory. They perform and rehearse both alone and with other choral groups to experience the successful performance of traditional choral literature and Dinner Theater selections. They take part in yearly choral evaluations sponsored by the Florida Vocal Association.
High School Honors Choir
High School Honors Choir is not a choir, but a class roster of students performing additional requirements for an honors point. Honors point singers perform with their respective choirs, perform in an out of school ensemble, study privately, and participate in the solo evaluations of the Florida Vocal Association. Any student in the Women’s Chorale or Mixed Ensemble can be dually enrolled in this class to earn the honors point credit for their ensemble.
High School Mixed Ensemble
High School Mixed Ensemble is an advanced group of auditioned male and female singers in grades 9-12 who participate in numerous concerts on and off campus. The singers travel yearly to participate in choral evaluations on a state and national level. The group has been rated Superior on the district, state, and national level for many years. Recent tours have included evaluations and concerts in the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. The group has performed master choral works with orchestra including Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Saint Saens’ Christmas Oratorio, and Rutter’s Mass of the Children and Gloria. Members also perform the best of Broadway and Showchoir repertoire in the yearly Westminster Dinner Theater Productions.
