Twenty-three HS students were inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honor society. To be eligible for membership, a student must have completed four semesters of college preparatory mathematics and be enrolled in a fifth semester. In addition, a student must maintain an A average in these courses.

The following students were honored at the recent induction ceremony:  Rebecca Acevedo, David Alfonso, Nicholas Aramburu, Ashley Barbato, Grant Biehler, Christopher Boyett, Piero Cappelleti, Richard Diaz, Emily Dominguez, Annie Evans, Olivia Fernandez, Jessica Forbes, Christine Hwang, Amalia Klinck-Shearman, Gabriel Loboguerrero, Camille Manso, Irene Nunez, Gabriela Olivos, Daniela Pinheiro, Michael Raghunandan, Ana-Maria Tablada, David Thompson, and Eric Westring.

The WCS chapter of Mu Alpha Theta is sponsored by Diane Maltby.  The chapter officers for 2009 - 2010 are Ceci Colon (President), Adolfo Urrutia (Vice President), Nicole Jocelyn-Holt (Secretary), Heather McGlaughlin (Treasurer), and Danny Reyes (Chaplin).

Mu Alpha Theta was founded in 1957 and has grown to more than 1,500 chapters around the world.  The purpose of the organization is to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics among high school students.
