Back-to-School Picnic 2009
The campus was abuzz on Friday, August 14, just days before classes were to begin. New WCS families were visiting each campus, attending orientations, and getting acquainted with the school. Parents and students were taking tours of the new Student Activities Center, and were amazed at the facilities. Families were gathering on the HS baseball field for the annual Back-to-School Picnic.

Education on the ES is Exciting!
Come hang out at our new PAD. We have a scale map of the United States (Alaska and Hawaii coming soon!), a skipping number line, an alphabet grid (Can you jump out your name?), a community circle, 4-square, and even a giant game of Chutes and Ladders. Learning is FUN!!

ES Teachers Brush Up on their Technology Skills
ES Computer Teacher Danielle Bond hosted a course for 10 teachers who returned to school a week early to improve their technology skills. They learned about emergent trends in instructional technologies using online textbook resources, wikis, and promoting internet safety for students.

Congratulations to Eric Heerspink, MS/HS Art Teacher, and Katie Wigger, MS Math 7, who were married this summer on June 26, 2009 in their home state of Michigan. The ceremony took place at Spring Grove Park in Jamestown, MI, near where they both grew up.

MS Bible Teacher Joy Levi-Nolander, and her husband HS Bible Teacher Tick Nolander didn't spend their summer sitting around in silence. They attended Atlanta Fest, a four-day Christian rock festival in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia, listening to some of the latest hard and soft rock music from the likes of Casting Crowns, Building 429, Natalie Grant, Skillet, Disciple, Kutless, and more.

Warrior Week 2009 - Wet Wild and Wonderful! by Rob LaVohn, HS English Teacher/Yearbook Advisor
Patty Winters has served in a variety of offices in her years at Westminster: she’s been the school nurse, she’s organized chapels, she’s served as a guidance counselor—but until August, she had never experienced Warrior Week, the high school's annual kick-off retreat. Her first night at Camp Kulaqua in High Springs, Florida, found her testing the waters of the River Ranch, a massive water park on the camp grounds.

Sophomore Travels Around the Globe as Ambassador
Sophomore Michael Raghunandan was selected to participate as a People to People Ambassador to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji this past summer. Founded by President Eisenhower in 1956, People to People promotes international understanding while building leadership skills among America's youth.
Michael's experience included visiting with government representatives, participating in service projects, experiencing the daily life of local youth, and visiting the attractions that make each country unique.

Coach Lou Inducted Into USF Hall of Fame
Congratulations to WCS Swimming Coach Lou Manganiello for being selected for induction to the University of South Florida's Inaugural Hall of Fame. Coach Lou was an assistant coach for the 1984-1985 National Champion women's swimming team, the first national championship in USF history.

Warriors Girls Volleyball Serves Youth in Costa Rica
Members of the Warriors Girls' JV and V Volleyball teams returned to Costa Rica this summer on a seven-day trip to minister through sports to the youth of this beautiful country. Organized through GoAll Sports Ministries, the purpose of the trop is to use sports as a platform to preach the Gospel and to introduce Christ to the crowds/fans.
