Support WCS

Annual Fund

What is the Annual Fund? Why is it important?

Simply Put. Quality is Expensive. Tuition revenues only cover the operating cost of a WCS education. We look to our parents, alumni, and all WCS stakeholders to INVEST in the growth of WCS and continue the tradition of enhancing the educational experience for our children. Classroom and building infrastructure, technology, faculty and staff development, fine arts, athletics, and financial aid all benefit from your selfless generosity and commitment to our expansion. The goal is 100 percent PARTICIPATION. Regardless of your contribution amount, you are a valued member of the Warrior Family and your donation is the backbone of our continued growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: What is the Annual Fund? Why is it so important?

The Annual Fund is the #1 priority WCS fundraising initiative. Generosity towards the Annual Fund is used for enhancements to all aspects of a Westminster education. It supports classroom and building infrastructure, fine arts, faculty and staff development, athletics, technology, and financial aid. The very things that make Westminster special are greatly impacted by generosity to the Annual Fund. What's more, our community particpation is a reflection of our internal support for WCS. High particpation(over 75%) puts us in a position to solicit outside foundations to support our school.

The importance of giving to the Annual Fund cannot be overstated.
  • Q: We pay a considerable tuition to attend WCS, why do we need to give more?

It is a perfectly logical question. The reality is, like most independant schools, tuition only covers the operating cost of a Westminster education. Your gift to the Annual Fund helps allow WCS to continue the tradition of enhancing the educational experience for our kids, while keeping tuition affordable. The Annual Fund plays a vital role in "Continuing to Advance the Westminster Way." Every child, no matter their individual interest, benefits from this imperative yearly initiative.
  • Q: My family would like to give more, but we are not in a position to contribute at that level right now. Can I make my gift in installments?

Yes! Many families prefer to make a pledge to the Annual Fund to allow them to make a more impactful gift. The fiscal year for the Annual Fund ends June 30.
  • Q: How does the Annual Fund Competition work? What are those banners for?

To help raise awareness on the importance of giving to the Annual Fund, a participation competition was created. Elementary and Middle School homeroom classes who reach 100% participation will receive a free pizza party and free dress day. The High School graduating class with the most family particpation will earn points towards their child's homecoming week competition.

The banners display the current participation of each graduating class versus the participation from last year (i.e., 2nd grade is compared to last year's 2nd graders). The idea is to keep improving and pushing towards our goal of 100% particpation. Our goal is also to increase the dollars raised by 15% each school year.
  • Q: I have two children at Westminster. Does my one gift count for both children for the particpation competition?

Absolutely. When the Advancement Office processes your gift, both children will receive credit for the participation competition.
  • Q: Why is my participation important?

The first question that most outside constituencies ask before making a gift is, "What percentage of your Board, staff and parents contribute?" It is important that we show support from within before we go to outside sources for contributions. Why should an outside organization invest in Westminster, if we aren't willing to do the same? This is why 100% participation is always our goal.
  • Q: How much should I give?

Each donor is asked to consider giving at a level that reflects their commitment to the school and their ability to give. All size gifts matter. Many families will make an Annual Fund pledge and make their gift in installments. The fiscal year for the Annual Fund ends June 30.
Below are the six giving levels:
    • Warrior (Up to $999)
    • Angel ($1,000-$2,499)
    • Cornerstone ($2,500-$5,000)
    • Leadership ($5,000-$9,999)
    • Legacy ($10,000-$24,999)
    • Grand Benefactor Level ($25,000+)
  • Q: Is my gift tax deductible? What is a matching gift?

Gifts to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible! It is very common for companies to match employees' gifts to nonprofit organizations  at a 1:1 ratio.  Many families have taken this initiative and doubled their gift to WCS. Seriously!
