PLTW Gateway (Grades 6-8)

Middle School is a time of exploration. Students are figuring out what they’re passionate about today and how that might relate to who they’ll become tomorrow. During this transitional time, PLTW Gateway’s ten units empower students to lead their own discovery. The hands-on program boosts classroom engagement and excitement, drives collaboration, and inspires “aha!" moments and deep comprehension. As students engage in PLTW’s activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they see a range of paths and possibilities they can look forward to in High School and beyond.
Courses Offered: Fundamentals of Engineering, Aeornautical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering/Design

Student Clubs

Warrior Robotics

Join the Warrior Robotics team and compete at the local, state and national level. Learn to build and program your own robot and discover the fascinating world of robotics. To date, MS Robotics teams have competed locally, and have qualified for the State Competition.

SWENext Warriors

SWENext Warriors mentors and encourages female students ages 13 to 18 to take engineering classes and to consider engineering as a major in college. An outreach program of the Society of Women Engineers, this student club participates in the "Introduce a Girl to Engineering" Day at the University of Miami and also held a gift giving drive for young mothers at COPE Center South.

Drone Club

The ultimate Student UAV Challenge is to hack the brain of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), replace it with a custom Arduino-based flight controller and configure it to fly different missions.  In tackling this challenge, students integrate hardware and software systems.  Furthermore, they harness the ingenuity and passion of UAV pilots, software, electrical, and mechangical engineers to model their own technology business.

      MS Engineering

MS Engineering students worked in teams to complete a perpetual motion device using VEX Robotics material.

Each group of two students had to create a continuous motion device.
