Warrior Lab

LogoDescription automatically generatedThe Warrior Lab was created in 2019 to match high school mentors with elementary students. During lab hours, students work together to help strengthen math, reading, and organizational skills in order to build confidence in their academics.

Author Academy

Warrior Lab presents Author Academy where selected third-grade students work on developing their creative writing skills alongside some of our talented high school mentors. Kids work on developing their writing fluency by keeping Daily Pages in their Writer's Notebooks which is also where they collect seeds (or ideas) for writing. They work on generating and developing ideas, supporting writing through sensory details, and enhancing writing with specific word choice and varied sentence structure. Students also explore a variety of trade books that offer good models of specific writing traits. This February the Author Academy is putting out an Invite to Write. All students in grades 2-5 are invited to submit stories, poems, or non-fiction articles that they have written independently. Students who would like feedback on their writing can choose to attend Author Academy on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon where they will work with current Elementary and High School Authors on their piece(s). Please click here to sign up!
