NHS Sends Cards and Goodies to Deployed Soldiers

Several members of National Honor Society (NHS) came together to write “thank you" cards to a U.S. Army unit stationed in Afghanistan. NHS's Community Service Coordinator Rebekah Raffalski ’20 decided on the project after hearing that a close family friend had been sending her future son-in-law, First Lieutenant Drew Lightsey, and his 20-person unit a box filled with goodies and notes each month.

NHS members sent thank you cards to express their gratitude for their service, and prayers for God's continued protection upon them. They also sent goodies such as hard candy, nuts, trail mix, cookies, and gum.  Lt. Lightsey sent photos and texted Raffalski '20 saying that they had received the box and that his "soldiers were really excited and thankful that you all thought about them and took the time to write!"  He continued to text saying: "I think it was a record how quickly the snacks were eaten! Haha!
