  • Underwood Named WCS Fine Arts Director

    We are pleased to announce that Donna Underwood has accepted the position of Fine Arts Director, effective July 1, 2018. Underwood has taught art for 16 years at Westminster Christian School where her students have been juried into and won awards in Scholastic and numerous prestigious art shows. The Dade Art Educator Association awarded her the Jackie Hinchy-Sipes Art Advocacy Award in 2010 and the Skevy Ralis High School Art Education Award of Honor in 2017.

  • Fedee Represents WCS at Intel ISEF

    WCS Junior Arielle Fedee was selected to be one of six students representing South Florida at The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. Her project focused on the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. She induced Alzheimer’s disease into Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies) and then tested the effect of turmeric upon the progression of the disease. We are so proud of all that Arielle has accomplished so far. An MIT professor has asked to work with her on this topic.  We are excited to see what next year’s project will hold!

    In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday, the father of seventh grader Gael Cardenas, Dr. Ernesto Cardenas, a U.S. Army Major, and the uncle of seventh grader Amanda Andreus, Jason Reyes, a U.S. Army Major in the Special Forces, shared in Middle School Chapel about their experiences in the military.

    Operation Pedro Pan Comes to Life for Seventh Graders

    Mr. Chenet's seventh grade English class read "90 Miles to Havana," by Enrique Flores-Galbis, a historical fiction novel about three boys sent to Miami from Cuba as part of the Operation Pedro Pan.  As part of their study of the text, they invited Fernando Munilla, Sabrina Chirino's grandfather; and, Tere Cuesta and Magda Rodriguez, Brian Casiano's aunts, to share their personal accounts of coming to the U.S. through the Pedro Pan Airlift Operation.
