ES, MS, & HS Robotics Team All Earn State Bids

All nine of Westminster’s Warrior Robotics teams earned bids to the State competition this past weekend at The VEX VRC and VEX IQ South Florida State competition. Three WCS teams competed In the VRC High School challenge on Sat., Mar. 2. Team 503A finished in 14th place among 49 schools earning a spot in the finals match. Team members included Aria Upton, Dante Martinez, Anthony Pastrana, George Sprinkle, Landon Glavach, Seizin Dieleman, and William Battle. The High School teams are coached by Brianna Upton.

On Sun., Mar. 3, the elementary and middle school teams competed. In the Elementary Division, Team 6855C won the Teamwork Champion Award as well as the Excellence Award. Team 6855 B won the Design award. These three awards are the top awards presented at any robotics competition and each includes an invitation to the World Vex IQ Robotics competition which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky in April 2019.
Team C members include: Andrew Godoy, Daniel Fernandez, R.J. Linares, Russell Briggs, Jonah Santiesteban, Anthony Gonzalez, Santiago Ganley, Amarri Irvin, and Joey Hernandez-Solaun. Coached by Mrs. Mailyn Santiesteban.

Team B members include: Caroline Seagren, Lorena Haedo, Gigi Artilles, Sara Espitia, Zoe DeVarona, Ilysa Hilliard, Kaitlyn Walker, Reva Eikenberg, Gabi Martin and Gabi Gonzalez. Coached by Mrs. Claudia Pastrana.

In the Middle School Division, Team C finished in sixth place and Team B finished in fifth place.  Both teams won their first round elimination matches before falling in the next round. The team is coached by Michael Gambrell.
