"I am so proud of the dedication and creativity these students invested to make this distinguished honor a reality," said April Sharpe-Shirk, Westminster Art Teacher/Visual Arts Department Chair. "I pray that they will continue to glorify with their God-given talents in the arts. These Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are a tremendous achievement."

Students' entries are blindly adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards' core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision. This year a record-breaking 3,000+ entries were received, with only a small percentage receiving awards.

The county will showcase the artworks via a virtual exhibition on the Rubell Museum website.

Westminster theater students earned Scholastic awards for film and animation, too! Read about it here
