Caring for Chemo Club Creates Care Kits for Chemotherapy Patients

The Caring for Chemo club at Westminster met last week to create care kits for patients receiving chemotherapy. The kits are meant to provide patients with items that will deliver a level of comfort as they undergo treatment.
The club, led by Daniela Corradine '23 and Fernanda Carneiro '23, gathered cozy socks, beanies, chapstick, notebooks, pens, hand sanitizer, ginger candies for nausea, lotion and more. Members of the club worked together to pack a total of 50 bags. Each kit was also accompanied by a heartfelt note which the students wrote by hand. Afterwards, club members gathered to pray for the chemotherapy patients that would be receiving these special kits.

The items used in each care bag were purchased with funds the group raised during a hot cocoa sale in December 2020. Between donations and cocoa sales, the club was able to raise $700 to fund this project.

A special thank you to all those that donated to this project as well as Maggie Izquierdo, the club's sponsor.
