Westminster Families Gather Thanksgiving Food for Those in Need

This year, Westminster families from the high school and elementary school campuses came together to collect Thanksgiving food items for those in need. The high school campus was asked to bring items such as mac & cheese, rice, mashed potato, pasta and other canned goods.
The collection ran from Nov. 4 to Nov. 17 and gathered a total of 1,672 items. Students from Westminster's Leadership Skills and Service-Learning class organized the drive after learning about the amount of people that will face food insecurity in Miami-Dade and Florida during Thanksgiving. The food items were donated to Feeding South Florida.

Meanwhile, elementary school families donated bags filled with corn, cranberry sauce, sweet potato, stuffing, cornbread mix and so much more. These items were given to Angel Share in order to help families that attend KIX Youth for Christ as well as families from Saunders Elementary. In total, the elementary school campus collected 285 bags.

A special thank you to the high school teachers that collected items (Mrs. Palmer, Ms. Hamming, Mrs. Garrido, Ms. Alba, Ms. Mary Lopez, Ms. Kleiss, Mrs. Devarona, Mrs. Izquierdo, Mrs. Janet Lopez, Mrs. Plyer, and Mrs. Pineda) as well as to all of the high school and elementary school families that worked together to bless those in need.
