Underwood Named WCS Fine Arts Director

We are pleased to announce that Donna Underwood has accepted the position of Fine Arts Director, effective July 1, 2018. Underwood has taught art for 16 years at Westminster Christian School where her students have been juried into and won awards in Scholastic and numerous prestigious art shows. The Dade Art Educator Association awarded her the Jackie Hinchy-Sipes Art Advocacy Award in 2010 and the Skevy Ralis High School Art Education Award of Honor in 2017.

An accomplished artist, Underwood has exhibited at many art shows including the Beaux Arts Festival, has illustrated a children’s book, I Am Moxxy Dog!, and the Miami Youth Museum cookbook, has done commissioned paintings, and has designed a variety of social and civic invitations including the Lowe Art Museum’s. She has co-chaired 21 annual Miami-Dade Public School/Miami Watercolor Society Student Art Shows and co-taught watercolor workshops to art teachers. She has adjudicated art shows locally and on a state level and serves as a member of Palmetto Bay's "Art in Public Places" committee.

A University of Florida graduate with a BS in journalism, Underwood earned a Master’s degree in art education from FIU, for which she studied abroad in China with Professor David Chang.
