    Camp High Tide 2019
Mr. & Mrs. Heetderks are thrilled to invite all incoming Kindergarten through outgoing 5thgrade students (entering 6thgrade in the Fall) to dive into the topic of Marine Art and Science! This year we will travel from sea to shining sea to understand the motion of the ocean, identify shells and sand from around the world, and investigate everything from tiny plankton to gigantic blue whales! You will love developing your art skills as you paint, mold, sculpt, draw, sketch and create beautiful ceramic pieces inspired by the treasures of the sea. Painting with squid ink, pulling prints from a real octopus, and even creating authentic sand designs are just a few among a tidal wave of art projects that Mrs. Heetderks will have planned for you! If you like slurping like a seahorse, dissecting slimy sea creatures, playing with live shrimp, or even using real shark teeth to catch your next meal, you will LOVE getting into deep water with Mr. Heetderks! We will sing, play, and end the week with an epic dance party that will surely get you out of your shell!
The weekly fee is $350 and includes a daily hot lunch, art materials, kiln firing fees, snacks, and all the fun you can find from the Atlantic to the Pacific!

The WCS Band Camp is a week-long performance and music learning experience for incoming 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students. No prior band experience is needed. The week will consist of students with no experience sitting next to students with experience – something I like to call Music Education in Action! Over the week, students will learn how to play a band instrument: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, or Tuba. Students with band experience will continue to develop their skills by serving as ‘beginning assistants’, helping the beginning students. With this also comes learning how to read music, breathing technique, posture, and many fun music activities! Band Camp is a way for us to continue to grow our God-given talents! By the end of the week, students will have gained a beginning mastery on their instrument and will perform a short concert to show our musical accomplishments from the week.
