Volunteer Information

We are so glad you are applying for a Volunteer position for the summer Fun Camp.  It should prove to be an incredibly fun and profitable time.  Before you apply, please look over the information below.  If you have any questions, please see either Mr. Comber or Mr. Reed.

Qualifications

  • Fun Camp volunteers must be high school students entering grades 9-12 at Westminster Christian School who have both the desire and energy to spend time with kids in various indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Volunteers must commit to at least two weeks of camp from June 10th through July 26th, 2019.  Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. -3:30 p.m.  Volunteers are expected to be there every day for the entire day.
  • Volunteers must above all be team players.  They must be willing to do what is asked of them without complaining, energetic, cheerful with the kids, kind and willing to serve.
  • Volunteers must also be willing to participate in a one-day training session in May. Date and time to be determined.

Role of Volunteers

  • Volunteers will be assigned to various duties during the week
  • Most volunteers will work with the Camp Staff in providing oversight for a small group of campers.  That means welcoming kids as they come (and greeting their parents), playing the various games with them, going on the field trips, overseeing lunch and taking part in any crafts or other activities
  • Volunteers are there for the campers and not the other way around.  Volunteers are not there to hang out with their friends or to stay in the shadows.  Instead, volunteers are expected to be in the center of the action, focusing on their kids at all times.

Selection Process

  • All applications must be submitted by Friday, May 10th at 3:15 p.m.  Because of the amount of applications that come in, any application that misses that deadline will not be considered.
  • Once the summer staff has received all of the applications, they will look over the applications and begin to make decisions about who might best fill the needs of Fun Camp.
  • If necessary, the camp staff will ask to meet with a prospective Volunteer.
  • Everyone who applies will be notified by Friday, May 17th, whether or not they have been accepted as a Volunteer for Fun Camp.
By filling out the form you understand and accept the above responsibilities and guidelines if chosen to volunteer.
