E-Bike Safety: Know Before You Ride

As e-bikes become increasingly popular among children and teens, it is important for families to understand Florida’s e-bike laws and safety guidelines. At the request of the Village of Palmetto Bay's Police Department, we are sharing this resource to help keep our students and community safe.

The Florida Department of Transportation’s E-Bike Safety: Know Before You Ride brochure provides helpful information about e-bike classifications, legal requirements, where e-bikes may be ridden, and essential safety precautions. It also highlights the importance of wearing a properly fitted helmet, following traffic laws, and understanding the additional risks associated with higher speeds.

We encourage all parents to review the brochure with their children before they ride. Taking time to understand the rules and practice safe riding habits can help protect our young riders and those around them.
