Westminster Becomes Only School in the U.S. to Earn Microsoft Showcase Title for Five Consecutive Years

Westminster has been recognized as a Microsoft Showcase School once again! There are only 38 schools in the country that share this title, and Westminster is now the only school to earn this recognition for five consecutive years.
"We should be extremely proud. Our faculty, staff and IT department have worked hard to ensure that the latest Microsoft technology is being used daily in the classroom," said Omar Valerio, CIO, CTO and IT director at Westminster Christian School.

Microsoft defines Showcase Schools as educational institutions that amplify the use of technology to drive school-wide digital transformation and efficiencies. Microsoft Showcase Schools also emphasize personalized learning for their students through the use of 1:1 learning devices and learning with current technology such as Microsoft Teams, Office 365 Education, OneNote, and more.

In addition, Microsoft has named Omar Valerio as well as four of Westminster's outstanding teachers as MIEE (Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert). Microsoft's MIE Expert program is aimed at teachers/administrators who have recognized the didactic potential and relevance of digital technologies and who use them innovatively in their lessons. These teachers are:

1. Arlene Castellanos, elementary school enrichment, technology and resource teacher
2. Kelly Gordon, middle school science teacher
3. Claudia Pastrana, PLTW Launch and enrichment teacher
4. April Sharpe-Shirk, high school art teacher
