Homecoming Attire Expectations

As we prepare for Homecoming, we are excited for our students to enjoy a fun and memorable evening together. We want our students to feel confident, celebrate with their friends, and enjoy all that Homecoming has to offer. We are asking for your partnership in helping ensure that Homecoming attire reflects the standards and values of our Westminster Christian School community.

Over the past several years, we have seen formal dress styles become increasingly revealing. While we recognize that current fashion trends can make finding an appropriate formal dress more challenging, Homecoming is a school-sponsored event, and attire must meet Westminster’s expectations for modesty and appropriateness.

We ask parents to please review their daughter’s dress before Homecoming night and have a clear conversation about these expectations. Dresses should be elegant, tasteful, and appropriate for a high school event. The following styles will NOT be permitted:

 

We have provided visual examples of dress styles that would not meet our expectations to help families better understand these guidelines. These examples are intended to eliminate uncertainty and help families make appropriate selections before Homecoming.

Please understand that students arriving in attire that does not meet these expectations may be asked to change before being admitted to the dance or may be turned away at the door. We sincerely do not want any student or family to experience that disappointment on Homecoming night.

We are communicating these expectations now because there is still time to make adjustments. If your daughter has already purchased a dress that falls into one of the categories above, we respectfully ask that you help her select another option that is appropriate for a Westminster school-sponsored event.

Our goal is not to take away from the excitement of Homecoming. Quite the opposite, we want our students to have a wonderful evening while representing themselves and Westminster with class, dignity, and modesty.
