Elementary School Students Host Student Council Elections
Ahead of the 2020 presidential elections, Westminster's very own elementary student body cast their ballots to elect their next student council members.
The candidates gave speeches in the morning and, moments later, students were allowed to voice their opinions at the polls. The teachers created a ballot box and handed out pencils and a voting card which listed the names of the candidates running for student council. Westminster's third, fourth, and fifth grade classes participated in the elections.
This event stems from a series of lessons by our elementary school teachers on the voting process. Students are learning about electoral procedures and are now applying firsthand what they've learned in the classrooms.
