HS Symphonic Band Performs on Tour in Hawaii
The WCS High School Symphonic Band had the honor and privilege to perform at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, HI on Fri., Feb. 15. Their program included special, patriotic-themed music: God Bless America, In Honor of the Fallen, Eternal Father Strong to Save, and the Marches of the Armed Forces. In addition to their Pearl Harbor performance, Mr. Carlson and the HS Symphonic Band also performed on the Center Stage at the Ala Moana Mall, toured the island of Oahu and visited many beautiful locations including Diamond Head, Hanuama Bay, and the North Shore. The students enjoyed many activities including surfing, snorkeling, zip-lining, sailing, biking, and parasailing.
The HS Symphonic Band is one of the premiere touring ensembles at Westminster. In February 2020, Mr. Carlson and the HS Symphonic Band will travel to the Midwest and visit four states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. They will perform at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN, First Covenant Church in Rockford, IL, and at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN in collaboration with the VU Chamber Concert Band and the Valparaiso High School Band for a massed-band Epic Film Music Concert.
