HS Students Learn and Serve in Costa Rica
The HS mission trip to Costa Rica was an amazing experience for students. WCS students served at a local school, assisting with the English class and provided school supplies that they had shopped for while in Costa Rica. They also visited a local church and held a time of devotion. In addition to serving in the local community, they immersed themselves in the culture and learned about Costa Rica's rich environment.
They visited CAITE (Cultural Agricultural Institute of Tropical Learning) for a demonstration on how to tag birds, stayed with families at Sitio de Mata in Turrialba where the students were taught how to cook Costa Rican food and had time to practice their Spanish. Students also rafted the Pacuare River and stayed at a lodge in the rain forest where a teacher from the Panthera organization welcomed the students and taught them about the Migration Corridor that protects the animals, particularly Pumas and Jaguars. Students also visited a water fall, Basilica de los Angeles, a volcano, and an organic farm.
