Torres '23 and Valdes '23 Earn Place in Art Exhibition

The National Art Education Association (NAEA) selected works by Alexa Torres '23 and Camila Valdes '23 for their national exhibition which features some of the most poignant student artwork from 2020.
"Congratulations to these National Art Honor Society students for being juried into this prestigious NAEA exhibition. To have two Westminster Christian High School students chosen from 1,187 submissions nationwide is an amazing feat. It is a wonderful way to start 2021," said Westminster Fine Arts Director Donna Underwood.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NAEA has transitioned to a completely virtual exhibition that will feature 93 works of student art. Representatives from eight member schools of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) participated as jurors: Burren College of Art, College for Creative Studies, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Laguna College of Art & Design, Maryland Institute College of Art, Milwaukee Institute College of Art & Design, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Parsons School of Design.

"I am so proud of our students for creating pieces that piqued the interest of such a prestigious jury," said WCS art teacher April Sharpe-Shirk.
