Westminster Students Designated as National Hispanic Scholars by College Board 

Westminster students Annalise Garrido ’23, Isabella Gonzalez ’23 and Frank Carlos Torres ’22 have earned recognition from the College Board as National Hispanic Scholars. Students eligible for this award have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams.
Garrido is a member of some of Westminster’s most rigorous academic programs: Emerald Scholars, Honors Science Research and the AP Capstone program. As a member of the Honors Science Research program, Garrido has been twice selected to the State Science Fair and has had her science research published twice by the University of Miami. She also plays violin and bass in Westminster’s honors orchestra and is a valuable member of the women’s varsity and club soccer teams.
 
A Westminster Emerald Scholar, Gonzalez is among an elite group of high school students who enroll in the school’s most challenging courses and participate in internships, independent research, and service projects. She is also a member of the Honors Science Research and AP Capstone programs, which provide her opportunities to develop and present her research on a variety of topics. She has been selected to present her research at local and state science fairs. Gonzalez is also a valued member of Westminster’s Drama program, having earned numerous awards at the district and state competitions. 
 
Torres is an ambitious student, enrolling in more than 10 AP courses and earning the title of AP Scholar with Distinction. He is a member of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists and has been a frequent attendee at their national conferences. On campus, he is part of the WCS Technical Theater and has served as a sound engineer for fine arts productions.  
 
The National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process.
