High School Students Release 2022 Literary Magazine, "Ignite the Flame"

Westminster's literary magazine staff has released the school's 2022 issue. This year's theme, "Ignite the Flame," was inspired by 1 Peter 1:7 which says, "These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold; though your faith is far more precious than mere gold."
Before the issue's release, the school's literary staff held a writing competition and a spoken-word night. Student artists, photographers and writers participated and submitted work to be considered for publication in this year's magazine. The photography and art entries were judged by local Miami artist, Tom Virgin, and the writing, essay and prose entries were judged by Westminster's AP Literature and Composition teacher, Mrs. Plyler.

The best entries were combined in this year's stunning issue which features first-place pieces such as "Different Candles to Choose From" and "Fatalism."

A special thank to all who participated and to the magazine's Editor-in-Chief Austin Jones '22, Art and Formatting Director Bianca Diaz-Silveira '24, Writing Director Charis Davis '22, Art and Formatting Editor Nicolas Torres de Navarra '23, Writing Editor Reese De Moya '24, Art and Formatting Editor Christopher Bobson '23, Writing Editor Isaac Jimenez '23, Assistant Editor Isabella del Valle '24, Writing Editor Carolina Schaffer '24, and faculty sponsor Ms. Mary Lopez.
