Important PSAT/NMSQT Information for Students Grades 9-11

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, all students in grades 9 through 11 will take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), an important test that provides many benefits that can help him or her along the path to college. The NMSQT only applies to juniors. The standard testing time is approximately three hours with an additional 45-60 minutes of directions and bubbling in of personal information. We ask that you do not schedule any appointments outside of school on this date so all students are present as no make-ups will be administered.
The PSAT is great practice for the SAT. Their score on the PSAT will unlock a free personalized SAT study plan on Khan Academy. In addition, students receive free college planning tools to help them start their college search as well as feedback on the types of AP courses for which they may be particularly well prepared. Taking these college-level classes can help students earn college credit while still in high school and provide them with a competitive advantage in the college admission process. For juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT offers him or her the opportunity to enter competitions for college scholarships.
