Vargas Appointed as Chief Financial Officer

Westminster is pleased to announce the appointment of Alyssa Vargas as the school’s chief financial officer, effective August 1, 2026. She succeeds Rob Lundgren, who will retire after 16 years of faithful service and dedicated leadership to Westminster.

A seasoned financial executive with more than 15 years of leadership experience across finance, operations, and organizational strategy, Vargas brings exceptional expertise in financial stewardship and strategic planning to Westminster’s senior leadership team. As chief financial officer, she will oversee the school’s financial strategy and operations, ensuring Westminster remains well-positioned to advance its mission with long-term strength and sustainability. She will provide leadership in financial planning, budgeting, capital allocation, risk management, and operational efficiency while partnering closely with school leadership and the Board to support strategic initiatives that serve Westminster’s students, families, faculty, and staff.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alyssa to Westminster’s leadership team. Her experience leading complex organizations through growth and transformation will be invaluable as we steward Westminster’s resources with wisdom and integrity,” said Scott Jones, Westminster’s head of school. "Just as importantly, she understands that financial leadership in a Christian school is ultimately about supporting our mission of empowering learners, preparing hearts, and inspiring lives for Christ.”

Vargas most recently served as chief financial officer at Frida, a fast-growing consumer products company in Miami. Joining the company in its early stages, she served as the senior finance leader and played a pivotal role in its remarkable growth, while leading the organization through multiple ownership transitions, including recapitalizations and a major corporate acquisition. During her tenure at Frida, she built and led the company’s finance function from the ground up, establishing strong systems, internal controls, and reporting structures to support rapid expansion. Her leadership included oversight of people operations, legal functions, and operational continuity during key growth periods.

“I am honored to join Westminster and grateful for the opportunity to serve a community so deeply committed to Christ-centered education,” said Vargas. "Throughout my career, I have believed that strong financial stewardship creates the foundation for mission-driven organizations to flourish. I look forward to partnering with Westminster’s leadership, faculty, and families to help ensure the school remains strong and well-positioned to impact future generations of students for Christ.”

Earlier in her career, Vargas developed broad experience across investment banking, entrepreneurship, and corporate finance. She served as a senior associate at Cross Keys Capital, and also co-founded SuperFuzion, a consumer brand that achieved distribution at a national retailer. Her corporate finance foundation began at Johnson & Johnson, where she was selected for the company’s highly competitive Finance Leadership Development Program.

Vargas earned her Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and completed their Strategic CFO Executive Education Program in 2021. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, as a Warrington Finance Scholar. Vargas is an active member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church and serves in children’s ministry.

Please join us in welcoming Vargas to Westminster. We are grateful for the strategic vision, financial expertise, and strong Christian character she brings to our community.
