Grades 9-11: Be Prepared for the Digital PSAT

On October 12, 2023, the PSAT will be administered in a new digital format to all students in grades 9-11. Students will be using their own school-issued Surface. Watch this video to see what students can expect from the digital PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT.

This Thursday, Sept. 21, students in grades 9-11 will stay in Period 4 to conduct a digital readiness check during assembly time. Seniors will report to The Lighthouse during assembly time.

Please ensure that your child does the following to prepare:
  • Check and complete any updates on the computer.
  • Make sure their surface is fully charged.
  • Bring the surface charger to school.
  • Check the device to make sure they can complete the test on their surface.

The PSAT is great practice for the SAT. Their score on the PSAT will unlock a free personalized SAT study plan on Khan Academy. In addition, students receive free college planning tools to help them start their college search as well as feedback on the types of AP courses for which they may be particularly well prepared. Taking these college-level classes can help students earn college credit while still in high school and provide them with a competitive advantage in the college admission process.

For Juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) offers the opportunity to enter competitions for college scholarships.

To prepare, full-length adaptive digital PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT practice is available on the Bluebook™ app which has been installed on your child’s device. Resources are also available at the Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy. In addition, below are links to the informational guides which provide test information and practice problems.
