Art Program

Art is an extraordinary platform for students to discover and develop their God-given talents.
Art classes serve as an outlet for self-expression that encourage students to think creatively and to use their imagination to make meaningful pieces of art that reflect their individuality.

From kindergarten through fifth grade, students take weekly art classes that help develop fine motor skills, which are important for tasks such as writing, typing, and other activities that require hand-eye coordination. During their lessons, children are also exposed to different cultures, artists and forms of art.

Westminster's art program is also famed for unifying students to collaborate on large sculptures that have biblical meanings. From creating wings with "worry words" that God can fly far, far away to sculpting a lion's head, children are reminded that God is their ultimate protector and guide.

Many of these large installations are on display in the main elementary school lobby and, occasionally, at Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

- Anne Heetderks, elementary school art teacher

"Our goal is to empower children to express their feelings and thoughts about God in a way that is visually impactful. By creating art that represents their understanding of God, they can explore and deepen their relationship with Him."
Westminster Christian School, located in Palmetto Bay, Florida, is a private, college-preparatory school for children from preschool through twelfth grade.
